MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane Keith Brown has welcomed the recent Official Statistics on Household Waste from SEPA which shows Clackmannanshire is leading the way on recycling household waste.

The newly released figures show that Clackmannanshire recycles 56.5% of its household waste which places it above the Scottish average of 45.2% and makes it the fourth best local authority for recycling.

To ensure more household waste is recycled in future, the Scottish Government is committed to introducing a deposit return system and seeing that all 32 local authorities are signed up to the Household Recycling Charter. This will ensure a more consistent approach to recycling across Scotland and make it easier for people to put the right things in the right bin, as well as increasing recycling rates.

Keith Brown MSP said: “I am delighted to see that Clackmannanshire is one of the best local authorities for recycling household waste. Thanks to the efforts of the Council and local residents, Clackmannanshire is helping to reduce emissions and contribute to our vision for a cleaner and greener Scotland.

“Through Scottish Government initiatives like the Household Recycling Charter and the planned deposit return system, I hope that more household across Clackmannanshire and Scotland will start to increase their recycling rates.”
