Local MSP, Keith Brown, today attended a sod-cutting ceremony which marks the start of construction work on a £2 million supported housing development in Sauchie.
The development which received funding of £750,000 from the Scottish Government, will house a new supported accommodation facility which is aimed at preventing and alleviating homelessness.
Speaking after the event Mr Brown said: “This ceremony marks the commencement of work on what I think is a fantastic development for the local area. This type of accommodation is very much needed in Clackmannshire and will offer support and assistance to vulnerable people and help to tackle issues surrounding homelessness.
I’m also delighted that the contract for the development, which was part-funded by the Scottish Government, has been awarded to Marshall’s construction as it will provide work and apprenticeship opportunities for local people.
