Local MSP, Keith Brown, recently joined Hawkhill’s Man Up group for one of their Monday morning group sessions at Hawkhill Community Centre in Alloa.
Man Up is made of local men who meet every Monday in a supportive, welcoming and encouraging environment to discuss issues that are important to them and to work together to make a difference to their local area.
Keith was impressed by the aims of the group and to hear about some of the projects they have been involved in, including the community garden and he is currently in the process of arranging an event for the group at the Scottish Parliament where they will have the opportunity to let MSPs from across Scotland know more about their group and its achievements.
Commenting, Keith said: “I was delighted to join the group at one of their meeting and to hear about the issues that are important to them and to learn more about how the small, positive changes they are making are improving their local communities.
“The success of the group highlights how encouraging local people to get involved in improving their communities, really does work.
“I think that the group has a really good story to tell that my colleagues at Holyrood will be interested to hear which is why I am arranging an event where they can showcase some of their work and explain why their project has been so successful.”
