SNP MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, Keith Brown, met with a representative of the newly formed business group, Tillicoultry Traders, to hear about the plans the group have to encourage people to shop locally and support their local businesses.
The group, made up of businesses from Tillicoultry, Coalsnaughton and Devonside, were formed following the launch of the local Community Development plan in May 2017. The wider community identified that a priority for the community was to improve facilities, activities, information for visitors and regenerate Tillicoultry High Street, which is where the group’s main focus will be.
Commenting Keith said: “It is encouraging that following the success of the Development Plan and the engagement from members of the wider community, positive action has been created, with the Tillicoultry Traders being an example of this”.
“We are fortunate to have the backdrop of the Ochil Hills on our doorstep and this is indeed a draw for tourists that we must promote as widely as possible. Our area has some fantastic businesses which are the backbone of our local economy, supporting jobs and growth in our communities. The Hillfoots villages and their businesses play an integral part in this and that’s why I am delighted to support this great initiative in Tillicoultry. I would encourage other businesses in the town to join the Tillicoultry Traders group and work together on maximising the potential of Tillicoultry”.
Sheena McLullich, Tillicoultry Traders representative added: “We’re pleased to have the support of Keith Brown MSP and we look forward to working with him to develop the Tilly Traders into a vibrant and powerful voice for local businesses”.
