Keith Brown MSP is in talks with Scottish Power over the path works, currently being carried out as part of the mitigation measures which were agreed as a condition of the Beauly to Denny Power Line.
Over the last few days, constituents have been in contact with Mr Brown highlighting their concerns about the damage to the paths on Dumyat, created by heavy duty machinery which have been working on the hillside and whether this is indeed in compliance with the previously agreed conditions of the path works programme.
Mr Brown said: “The paths and tracks around Dumyat are well used and well loved by locals and visitors alike and the mitigation works agreed as part of the Beauly to Denny Power Line were meant to improve the area,
“I am deeply concerned that the path works that have been undertaken in the last few weeks have created a real eyesore and have raised questions as to whether these mitigation works, which were in themselves to enhance the local area following the line installation, are being carried out in compliance with conditions previously set out.
“I have contacted Scottish Power to raise these matters and have received assurances that works have been suspended until a meeting is held with key stakeholders in the near future to agree the most appropriate way forward.
“I am meeting with representatives of Scottish Power next week and will seek assurances that the views of local residents will be considered, that the conditions set out are adhered to, and that a solution is found in order to protect the landscape of Dumyat”.
