Local MSP Keith Brown has welcomed the success of the employment fair which he hosted last Friday in Alloa town hall.
The employment fayre, the second which Mr Brown has hosted, was part of National Apprenticeship Week and attracted around 40 local and national employers – many of whom had job vacancies, apprenticeship and training opportunities and was attended by over 600 local people.
Commenting Mr Brown said: “I am committed to improving employment opportunities for my constituents and by bringing a number of local and national employers together in Alloa, the employment fayre was part of me honouring that commitment. It was a great opportunity for local people to come along and engage with many organisations that they don’t always have access to.” “The event itself was extremely well attended by both employers and those looking for work and the feedback I have received has been extremely positive. “There were a number of current vacancies at the fair, in a range of different sectors from retail to the care sector and a number of different employers were actively recruiting for Modern Apprentices and I hope those who came along and were looking for jobs were pleased at the range of positions on offer. “I am delighted with the response to the event and I will definitely be organising a similar event again next year.” The Scottish Ambulance Service who attended the employment fayre said: “The Scottish Ambulance Service attended this event as a way of engaging with the community and showing the career opportunities that are available within the service.
Julie Chalmers from Train’d Up said: “Train’d Up were delighted to attend this event giving us the opportunity to assist young people in deciding their future career path, assisting employers in sourcing a quality training provision and offering advice on sources of funding and wage subsidies to increase the viability of recruiting an Apprentice”.
A spokesperson for NHS Forth Valley said: “As NHS Forth Valley is the largest local employer we were delighted to support this event and provide information on NHS careers and employment opportunities.”
