KEITH CONCERNED OVER FUTURE OF ALLOA POST OFFICE
Keith Brown MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Clackmannanshire & Dunblane constituency, has expressed his disappointment and concern at uncertainty surrounding the provision of Post Office services in Alloa.
Speaking this afternoon, Keith said:
“The Post Office have been in touch to let me know about uncertainty surrounding the provision of their services in Alloa.
“As I understand the situation, the property in which the Alloa Post Office is situated is being sold and the postmaster has been told that he needs to vacate the property within a very short time frame.
“This is obviously very disappointing and outwith the control of any of those involved in delivering Post Office services to the people of Alloa but it does create a very concerning situation.
“I know that the Post Office are actively trying to remain on-site until alternative premises can be found from which to operate.
“Plans are in place to provide a mobile Post Office should that need arise and the likelihood is that there will be a period of closure.
“It is absolutely untenable for a town the size of Alloa to have no Post Office. I have been assured that the Post Office are working with interested parties to ensure future provision of services and I will be kept informed of any developments.”
